El periodo comprendido entre 1750 y finales del siglo XIX fue una época de agitación. La industrialización en Inglaterra, la Revolución Francesa, Napoleón y la formación de estados en Alemania e Italia son sólo algunos de los acontecimientos históricos que definen este periodo.
